His Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isambard_Kingdom_Brunel
Brunel is my new hero. He smoked 40 cigars a day and slept 4 hours a night. During the Crimean War Florence Nightengale voiced her concerns about the poor conditions wounded men had to endure, and pleaded for help from someone. Now, Brunel was already working on a few projects, including the SS Great Eastern, the largest iron sailing ship built at the time of her launch in 1858, but he accepted the task.
In five months Brunel designed, built and shipped a series of wood and canvas buildings to be used. They featured rudimentary temperature control systems, sanitation, drainage and ventilation. He even advised as to their placement in the field. Of the 1,300 men treated in what Nighengale called "those magnificent huts," 50 died, compared to a figure ten times as great in the buildings Brunel replaced.
The more you know.
Also his name is dangerously close to 'Isengard' which by any measure makes him a badass.
